Kouros Azar, MD, has been recognized as a 2025 Castle Connolly Top Doctor, the second time he has been honored with the prestigious Top Doctor designation.

THOUSAND OAKS, CA, May 27, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — Kouros Azar, MD, has been recognized as a 2025 Castle Connolly Top Doctor, the second time he has been honored with the prestigious Top Doctor designation. Only about 7 percent of the nation’s licensed physicians are chosen each year as Castle Connolly Top Doctors for their specialties in their regions.

A highly regarded plastic surgeon, Dr. Azar is the medical director of Azar Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, the Thousand Oaks practice he founded in 2003.

Dr. Azar is known for his precise attention to detail, artistic approach, warm demeanor, and his patients’ exceptional results. His clinical expertise, research activities, and engineering training inform his work and help him select the most appropriate treatment for every patient.

He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Azar performs an array of sophisticated cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, body, and breast — including many minimally invasively.

These procedures range from rhinoplasty (“nose job”); otoplasty (ear reshaping); and face, brow, and neck lifts to breast augmentation; abdominoplasty (“tummy tuck”); and body contouring and lifting. He has particular expertise in keeping a natural appearance, especially when rejuvenating the eyelids and brow.

Dr. Azar also specializes in breast implant removal, helping women every day who wish to have smaller breasts after having had implants for years or women who need revision of their existing implants — even those with breast implant illness.

Dr. Azar also evaluates and treats patients who have issues such as facial trauma; scars, including those caused by cancer and cancer treatment or acne scars; and gynecomastia (breast tissue in men).

Dr Azar is a national leader in the treatment of acne with lasers. He serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Coronado Aesthetics, where he led development of a new technology that clears up acne using gold microparticles and lasers combined to eliminate sebaceous glands. The treatment, called Sebacia, has already helped thousands of patients avoid toxic acne medications and antibiotics.

Dr. Azar and his team offer many non-surgical medical spa (“med spa”) treatments, as well. They include injectables and dermal fillers; laser and light skin resurfacing; and facials, peels, and other face and body treatments.

Dr. Azar says he gets a lot of satisfaction from the relationships he builds with patients.

“I care a lot about my patients, and the thing I enjoy most about my practice is getting to know them and helping them through their unique journeys,” he says.

“Each person comes in with different concerns, questions, and things they want to change. A big part of my job is to listen to patients carefully and to make sure they’re there for the right reasons and that they’ll be happy with the results.”

Also a talented guitar and violin player, Dr. Azar sees similarities among music, surgery, and the way he hopes patients feel about their results.

“A great piece of music elevates your mood, motivates you, and gives you hope for the future and for life,” he says. “That’s how I want our patients to feel about the enhancements and transformations we help make possible for them — that sense of elation and a positive future.”

As an active member of all the major Plastic Surgery societies and a medical device expert, Dr. Azar translates his evaluation of all new available techniques, devices, and science into practical treatments for his patients without always following only trends.

Dr. Azar is an active member of the American Association for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and he has served as an ambassador of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Recognized in the media a number of times, Dr. Azar is affiliated with Los Robles Regional Medical Center, a Castle Connolly Top Hospital.

Top Doctors are nominated by peer physicians and selected by the physician-led Castle Connolly research team.

“I’m so honored to be nominated and featured two years in a row by other board-certified plastic surgeons that I respect,” Dr. Azar says. “I love being able to work with other talented doctors to stay on the cutting edge of our field.”

Dr. Azar earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed a five-year general surgery residency at University of Arizona-affiliated hospitals, followed by two years of fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at University of Utah-affiliated hospitals.

Dr. Azar also holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical and electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University. There is now a scholarship in his name at Case Western Reserve University called the Kouros Azar Excellence Award in Neural Engineering.
